In reviewing the season results - excluding the RedCrest - a lot of the well known former BASS anglers didn't do well at all in yearly MLF winnings. Many won less than $30,000 while the bigger money winnings were had by around 30 or so guys. Wonder if the anglers who didn't do well at all will be able to continue, though many of them have substantial incomes from various sponsors?

They have zero entry fee's and this was season one of three guaranteed before they would have to re-qualify. For guys with bad seasons, they have been free since late June to guide or do offseason jobs. Some of these guys have franchises and other things to help pay the bills. I know one man on BASS that owns a ServiceMaster Franchise, I have heard of guys that guide , own tree farms, all sorts of things.

LOL they all left for a reason and it wasn't for a worse paying job. They didn't sign that 3 year contract for free, as a group the bulk of their money isn't coming for tourney winnings as they aren't all playing for each others money any more like the other tours.

They would have only left BASS or FLW for a good paycheck so I doubt they're hurting

A lot of the BASS guys did much worse. $40K entry fees plus travel expense and won nothing. And they get no TV revenue sharing.

My son asked me if he retired since the only time he's seen him lately he had a mic in his hand and was announcing? He does but since he didn't make the Red Crest Championship they ask him to commentate some.

Curious if Boyd Duckett allows himself to be cut. Guy sucks compared to the other pros which is probably the point of him starting his own tour.

The reality is that almost none of these guys really make a living off of the actual winnings of the fishing tournaments. That goes for MLF, BASS, and FLW. By my count around 60 of the MLF pros made $60,000 or less this year. Even without entry fees when you factor in travel expenses and just basic cost of living, those guys are not making much of anything. Sponsorship money must not be to bad. Otherwise guys like Jason Lambert (among others) would be in the poor house.
