Been catching these in a local drainage. Not sure what they are. It looks more like a spotted bass (Micropterus punctulatus) than a Guadalupe bass (Microterus treculii).

Most likely a spotted bass. Belton has a bunch in it. Check for a "tooth patch" on the tongue.

Guadalupe or Spotted bass they’re two different species but very similar and the Guadalupe is the smaller on the average of the two.

Spotted bass for sure the Guadalupe's have a bit brownish look to them.

I'll try and get a few more photos really leaning towards the Spotted Bass. Was just unsure as TPWD has stocked Guadalupes outside of their native range. I've also seen where they list "Alabama Bass" in the hunting/Fishing reg pamphlet. Not sure what they mean by Alabama bass unless they are talking Coosas. I have caught Spots before but they seemed greener whereas these have been more Brown/olive with a blueish sheen around the jaw and gill plates. Apparently there is one fish Micropterus henshalli, that they call an Alabama bass that has been stocked in Lake Alan Henry out by Lubbock. Who knows were else they have been stocked as Texas seems a bit like Colorado in their stocking efforts placing fish without knowing exactly what they are. Colorado did that for years with Greenback Cutthroats. Then only about two or three years ago discovering the fish they were stocking had more markers for other cutthroat subspecies and then announcing that they found the only pure strain of Greenbacks in a tiny stream that was dang near in the Colorado Springs City limits in a popular park. I wonder if they have "mutted" fish up at hatcheries. I've seen this in Colorado as well on some the streams I have fished on the side of Pikes Peak and Sheep Mountain. The cutthroats above '9,000 are conglomeration of so many species and subspecies they defy description.
