This is a huge change in her fishing ideas, and brother, I want to help this along. We have a nice little bass pond, so we wander over there 2 or 3 times a day. But she hasn’t caught one yet. She caught one Bluegill on a Rapala, but no bass. I'm picking the baits that have worked for me and suggesting she use them. I caught one nice one about an hour ago, and she grumbled. Sooner or later, surely she’ll catch one. Surely...

A Spinner bait, Chatter bait, or something Texas rigged would be a good place to start and would be easier for a new fisherman or in this case fisherwoman to use.

She can catch bass on minnows too at a pond if she would rather use a bobber until she gets the hang of it. My inlaws have a stock pond and they catch all their bass on minnows. Course it's a great place for me to practice new techniques because the bass are idiots and have rarely seen artificial lures. I can fish 5-6 presentations in a day and all will catch fish.

Hooray, I put a 2 hook Rapala with a brushy tail on her rod and she caught 3 bass. So excited. She’s facebooking now to spread the word. After the third bass, she was strutting around and talking trash, and I’m under orders to buy one more of those baits. That would be her bait.
Steve Hummert, we live about 6 miles south of Groesbeck. We have 80 acres of peace and quiet. Any time you want a real cold beer, let me know and I’ll give directions.
Fishing was slow today on “The Pond”, but when it started a light rain, the bass woke up. Thank goodness.

Just ordered the baits. Rapala X-Rap 08 size, in gold, silver, and Olive Green. Mama is now happy, and opened some wine. She has quit trash talking, for now.
The baits float, and run a foot or two deep. I have long been a fan of two hook Rapalas.
JRG, I have a few good looking floaters - frogs and such, but haven’t tried them. Prior to today I did real well with black and yellow Strike King single spinners, but they didn’t work today.

I’d use that Mepps spinner/minnow. My earliest memory of fishing with my grandfather was his fondness for “Mepps French Spinners”. I used a Pfleuger Saturn reel and a Shakespeare spiral fiberglass rod back then. Still have both, but they are retired from service.

Try the #7 floating rapala and twitch it ever so slowly Also, as stated above, a weightless senko will almost always catch em
Congrats to the wife!

Tie a buzzbait on and take her out there about 30 minutes before dark. She will be looking at new boats next week.
