Since wacky worms seem to get easily torn up, I was considering using a Z-Man ZinkerZ for wacky rigging. They advertise to last a very long time and don't tear easily. Then I heard that they float - but don't most wacky worms float? I use weighted wacky hooks which would overcome the floating. I know that you can buy some worms that have extra salt in them to create more sinking. Does the ZinkerZ have the softness, wiggling motion, and pliability of other wacky type stick worms?

One last question - I fish around a lot of brush tops and weeds and need a good, stout hook, weedless wacky hook - I'm using a weedless Falcon Lures K-Wacky hook in the 3/0 size.

I'd stay with the hook you are using and use an o-ring or two on the zinker-z.

Elaztec will slide around on a hook (thus the o-ring recommendation)

Do not get elaztec baits anywhere near your regular plastics = melted mess.

I believe the Zinkers have salt in them-Here’s a good stout wacky jig
