Any tips, pointers, advice on buying new "noncurrent" boats?

2017 nitro z20
Twin flushmounted HDS9 lowrance touch with structure scan
80lb Fortrex
250 mercury
Hot foot
Removable passenger console
Removable jump seat (center seat)
Retractable tie downs
dual axle trailer
Keel guard

The boat is listed at $54,995
Phone price was $44,000

The bad part is the boat was left in the lot, so it has sun bleached gel coat and both seats are torn. The electronics were left with no covers. Carpet is in great shape still.
(EDIT: When I say left in the lot, I mean year round. No cover at all. Rain, direct sun, etc)

What would be a reasonable offer for them to consider? Would yall ask for any upgrades or to have the electronics replaced? The sticker shows the electronics to have cost $2,200+ each.

I was thinking of offering $35k as is or $39k with humminbird 12s, ultrex with ipilot link and a power pole?
Is this unreasonable? What would you offer?
I believe it may have been a demo, so it may have xx engine hours.

Average selling prices for these used is $35k-$42k.

I have no plans to resale or trade this boat once purchased. I am buying a new boat, just looking for a good deal

If it’s at a dealer sitting that long especially if it’s had fuel in it request all the fuel filters be replaced and the water pump impeller replaced. I would personally want to have the fuel injectors cleaned as well.

Thank you for the tip. I was able to verify it is a NEW unit, never taken off the trailer. There has been no fluids or batteries put in the boat.

Man that's a tough one. Seats and professional to buff will cost you about $2k. Dealers that do stuff like that should be kicked in the you know what.

I imagine they are pretty desperate to sell the boat. It has a non-current engine, trolling motor, and electronics. If you like the boat, I think the $35k offer is ok. I bet itss going to need a $2k~$3k to restore the gelcoat and replace the seats. A couple of Helix 12s, a Power Pole and and Ultrex is around $10k in upgrades. You may want to offer more than $39k with all these items added.

Yep, they should have covered it. Last time I bought a lawn tractor at Home Depot I requested one that had been stored inside.

I think they will have trouble moving it and need it off the lot. I would offer $30k as is with warranty with my top at $35k and do any upgrades myself. Also make them include a good cover!

the reason that it is still on their lot is that its not burning interest . they look at inventory different than stand alone dealers where that the interest meter runs on every day .

I would check closely to see if rats or other vermin made any homes in the boat. Also, I have a different POV than some of those above. If the boat has been neglected like that, even if it has never been on the water, it is worth far less than $30K as is (at least to me). Think about it - water in the fuel tank, motor has not turned over in 2-3 years, mold and other gunk in the bilge, fit and finish long gone. You will need to spend some serious change or do lots of work yourself if the boat is to be brought back to like new. And then, it would be a 2-3 year old boat valued very similarly to a used, but well taken care of Nitro.

Just my POV.

that's really good advice -- i'm currently waiting on a response from the sales team leader. When he calls me back I will look into making that offer. I had originally thought about offering to pay more if there's add-ons or replacements thrown in like an Ultrex 80 with ipilot link, helix 12s on the bow and console and a power pole.

Edit:--:
One thing I haven't considered is that these upgrades aren't nearly as costly to the dealer as they are to us and consumers. Everything they sell has some kind of mark-up/GP%. So, I'm curious if their cost is low enough, they may meet my offer.. if they do, bet that i'll be up there signing the papers roflmao

I'm waiting on a response from the sales team leader - I should be receiving one by Tuesday to see what he thinks of my $35k AS-IS offer. When he calls back, I may split the difference and let him know I'm lowering the bid to $32000; If they want more, we will need to discuss the upgrades/replacements.

Dang - I didn't know about this, I was hoping it was costing them money because that, I could work to my advantage with negotiations.

My thought process with the offer I'm giving them is that at some point, that boat has to sell. Whether it's to private party or sold at auction. I would imagine they would lose like crazy by selling at a wholesale auction.

The boat is a 2017 (February), so it's been up there for a minimum of two years (nearing 3) -- I'm not sure why they haven't been able to sell it but I'm more curious about why it's still on their lot.. There's a reason they're haven't sent it to auction to "off-load" it yet. If I can figure that out, I may be able to use it to my advantage with pricing the boat.
hmmm

Personally, I would keep looking for a boat. I would not pay $30k or more for a New bass boat that has been sitting for over 2 years in the sun with obvious damage. I would prefer to buy a pre owned boat well taken care of for the same money or less. Otherwise, I would pay the extra money for a new boat that has been taken care of by a dealer.
