I recall being able to just dial last 4 numbers if the other person had the same area prefix (xxx-). At least it was that way in LaGrange about 1972. Also had a party line back then. be awesome if the party line was connected to the Chicken Ranch !!!

Still remember our number 382-8388 and we were on a four person party line. Funny thing was our home was located less than a 1/2 mile from the Denton radio station transmission towers. Any number of times you could pick up the receiver and listen to the radio broadcast.
