Fished Lake Mcqueeney yesterday with my buddy Jeff. We launched our kayaks from Jeff's backyard and fished the east side of the main lake. We caught good numbers of both Bluegill and Redear. Also caught some nice bass. Rounding out the catch were a couple of Rios in the 10" range. We fished from 7am till 12 noon. Fish were caught by docks in 14 feet of water and hanging close to the bank. Most of the sunnies were in the 7 to 9 inch range. We had two that went over 10" both were Redear. The bass were in the 2 to 4 pound range. Jeff lost a BIG ONE at the edge of his kayak after a great fight. We guessed the weight of the fish to be about 7 or 8 pounds. Most of the fish were released. We kept a few of the Bluegill/Redear for an upcoming fish fry. Small spinner baits on ultralight tackle were used along with small crank baits. A plane White Rooster Tail got the best results. Jeff's big bass took a small crank bait Chartreuse/Black in color. It was nice fishing Mcqueeney again! woot

Vogey: The ramp at Creek Side off of FM 725 is not that bad. You have a long ride to the main lake and some shallow sand bars along the way. The Creek Side HOA does not mind people using it but does ask to keep the area clean!

Side Note: Love the River lakes especially Mcqueeney. Not far from home and good quality fish! Hate to see the unseen future of Mcqueeney. Would hate to see it end up like Dunlap! realmad

Nice report as always Laker!

Side Note: How was the boat traffic? Is the traffic the same as it was prior to the dam problems on Dunlap?

The boat traffic was light when we started but picking up when we were getting off the lake. Still plenty of ski boats on that lake.

Thanks Laker. Glad to know that a least some of the remaining river lakes are still getting some good recreational use. Seems for what I have been hearing it is only a matter of time until the remaining river lakes will be a thing of the past! Hope that never happens.

Curtis you better get all of your Mcqueeney and Placid fishing done. After September all of the river lakes will be no more. realmad

That is a total shame! I know you can still fish the river beds however there is going to be a lot of structure being taken away that was a major plus to big fish! Without structure you have smaller fish. Just my two cents.
