Finally fished Fayette after a long time! We almost ended up at Decker but I won the "Rocks,Paper, Scissors game! Glad I won. Myself and fishing buddies Jeff and Steve launched at Oak Thicket around 7:30am. It did not take long. We found nice Bluegill right off the bat and stayed on them for over an hour. We fished a total of three spots all reed beds and found good numbers of good fish at all three spots. We caught Bluegill,Redear,Hybrid Sunfish, and a few Large Mouth Bass. The basic sunfish were mostly in the 8 to 9 inch range with a couple in the 10" range. The Large Mouth Bass were in the 2 to 4 pound range. All fish were fat and full of fight. We caught around 100 fish between the three of us. Kept 20 for the frying pan and released the rest. Fish were caught off of Kayaks using ultralight tackle. Red/White Rooster tails and Chartreuse Gulp Alive Minnows were the baits used. Fish were in 4 to 8 feet of water. Left them biting at 1p when we left. Truly a great day on Fayette and planing our next trip back. woot

Laker...I knew it ! It's really hard to beat Fayette for consistent action, and those Gulp Alive minnows are proving their catching ability more and more. Good trip & excellent report....

Great post Laker! Seems that Fayette and Decker are going to be the future replacements for the Guadalupe River Lakes. Again super fishing guys. Good job.

Will be fishing a lot more of the Austin area water bodies for sure! Will also be fishing Fayette more but due to the distance I will be fishing the Austin area lakes more! Austin is just straight up IH 35 from me! Less than one hour! woot

Side Note: Austin Traffic is another story! bang

I kind of figured that! I know Chuck BAF has plenty of other great places to fish and I figured that some of the other anglers would fish more of the Austin area as well as Fayette!

Side Note: It might be worth while to fish the Guadalupe River bed once things settle down. Hopefully some brush piles will be around and some grass beds will start forming. Who knows!
