When I went to Lake Picachos in May of this year, the WP was the bait of choice in the AM bite. And I did try other topwaters, but none as effective as the Whopper. Just sayin'...

all i catch with mine are starving dinks in a low stress private pond, and they sound cool. I like the big 'un that catches dinks the same size, now thats fun, to realize it's a BASS not a piece of trash!

I caught a dozen or so on a WP earlier this year, including a 4 pound smallmouth at Belton. It looked like a grenade going off when he hit. WP's will catch fish, but I still think a Yellow Magic will catch more.

Yellow magic outfishes the gimmicky whopper plopper all day long! Own them both and only use the yellow magic. Got a plopper for sale. Like new. $9 shipped.

Whopper-plopper sure catches some fish! I was skeptical at first but now throw it over a buzzbait prob 90% of the time. ONLY thing I recommend is to change out the hooks!! The ones that come on it are too thick and don't stay hooked up well.
