ok i have a gift card for cabelas/bass pro. Was thinking about adding led light to my hobie pa 12. Was wondering if anyone has these installed and was wondering which to get. I would appreciate any help.

I have not installed the Yak Power or Yak LED's but I have installed LED's 2 of our kayaks. There's pros and cons.
Pros:
-They provide additional safety lighting in the dark.
-Bait fish swarm to the green LED's

Cons:
-They damage easily. I have already bumped into a wood piling in the water and damaged the lights (waterproof cover) on one side of my kayak.
-They start to come off over time. You'll need to add some super glue (I used Gorilla Glue Super Glue) to the back of the strips when putting them on your yak.

I went with T Top Lights. They're well built even though I've already damaged one of mine no light could've withstood what I put it through. When I was digging into LED's I found Yak Power is easily doubled the price if not more than what you can buy strip lights, a switch bank and splice some wires together yourself. It's not easy and you don't have to know how to solder to do it yourself. Waterproof wire nuts are designed for below grade applications and have grease inside and are all you need. You can install 8' of LED lights rated at IP68 (this is important to have this rating), buy a switch bank, the wiring and wire nuts for about $75. If I remember correctly that's about half of what the Yak Lights were. If you decide to wire it yourself and use the wire nuts add a zip tie around the wiring just below the wire nut (see attached pic) in case the wires get pulled the won't pull apart.

I got the Yak-Power system for the plug n play and cleaner installation. I'm too lazy to cut , splice , crimp & solder all the wires to a switch panel. It's cheaper if you piece everything together & DIY. The Yak-Power system ran me about $300.

I also have Yak-Power lights inside my kayak. I have a "Bait Snake" that I power from a separate battery to avoid mounting lights on the outside that I know I would scrape off the boat at one point or another (I make it a practice to scrape trees at regular intervals). The inside Yak-Power lights are to enable this old man to see to retie at night. I second the "ease of installation" and neatness aspect of the Yak-Power lights as well as the price comments. It was a trade-off that I was willing to make.

If you have the YakAttack Visi carbon pro(flag and light), you can swap out the 2 led module with a 4 led module($15).
That may give you the light you need much more economically.

You could also wear a head mounted headlamp.
I use the waterproof wowtac A2s($36). Has one light mode that is very dim but sufficient to tie knots right at face level.
Also has much brighter modes up to level I can find things on shore and definitely get a boaters attention.
Also has an sos feature and rechargable battery via mini usb port.
Know the headlamp would solve your issues.

$300 seems excessive if all you want to do is be able to see to tie knots.

This is the system I use. $300 is a bit much but I can also run my fish finder and other accessories off the same system.
