So do the “lake front” property owners become “River front” property owners? Amongst the countless problems this is going to create it will be very interesting to see how property lines are drawn. Some property owners in coves will no longer even own any kind of water front property. This is going to be a huge mess.

Why don't the property owners offer to raise the funds to repair the dams?

That is the only solution, since the controlling agency says they don't have the money to fix them...

Without the dams wont the river flood worse? Isnt that the point of each placement?

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

What would be awesome is that just fix the furthest dam down the river, excavate out the old dams since they are elevated and make the whole thing accessible. Fish it from 35 to I-10 and beyond.

How many people own multi million dollar properties in that area?

I don’t go over there, but I’m sure there’s quite a few. Here’s the deal though, 2 dams have already failed and land owners have done nothing to raise money for the repairs. The agency that owns the dams, no longer needs them. They were built for power a long long time ago. The dams are only valuable to fisherman, pleasure boats and land owners. One of the lakes is completely private with NO public access. If they want their dams fixed, they need to spend some of their own money. If people want to go the “lost property value” route, then talk to your county and get them to pay for the dams.

If the state of TPWD pays for the dams, then every lake needs to be open to the public.

Some really nice properties on all those lakes. Man it would suck to own property there. Basically worthless now
