I have a 1999 Mercury 75hp two stroke. It is running rough at low throttle and is sluggish getting out of the hole. Half to full throttle runs great. Pulled the air cover off and there was gas/oil on the inside of the cover and a little bit pooled in the bottom. Pulled the carbs and noticed that there was gas dripping from the underside of the bottom manifold. Pulled the manifold off and pushed on the reeds (didn’t have replacement gaskets to pull the reed body) Looks like one reed does not spring back as strong as the other ones. I know that a broke reed will cause issues but will a weaker reed do the same. Can I just replace the set of three with the week reed or do I have to change all nine reeds? Am I on the right path here. Sorry for the long post.

Sounds like a good troubleshooting plan.Weak reeds can cause same issues. I'd change all reeds. Good possibility that one or more may be chipped/broken.

Thanks for the responses. Hoping it’s just a weak reed. Really don’t want to have to tear it down to find a missing piece.

If you have chipped reeds, pieces will have blown out exhaust. No worries there.
