So way back in the early 60's I remember my dad always had a few laying around and the other day I bought a box of stuff that had some pre snelled hooks in it. So what , if any reason is there to have and or use them in Texas fresh water?

Snelling a hook keeps the hook shank in line with the leader or line the hook is tied to so it helps hookups instead of the hook flopping around.
Circle hooks benefit the most with a snelled hook as it keeps the hook point in line with the leader, and R/R catfishermen in fresh water use them with their live bait and cut bait rigs.
I use them all the time, and snelling a hook is just as easy to do with a little practice.
