Are any of the lakes in the western part of OK good for bass fishing?

Im looking to move somewhere between Denver and Stephenville and want to be close to some good fishing and hunting if possible.

Canton lake is known for walleye fishing and there are a few bass in it, Crowder lake, just south of Weatherford is managed by the SWOSU Bass Team and was once a hidden gem but not as great since word spread on social media, Southwest OK has Lawtonka (State Record Smallmouth) and Elmer Thomas but you really got to be east of interstate 35 to get consistently good bass fishing in Oklahoma.

On the other hand, hunting is phenomenal in western OK.

Thanks fellas, I figured the fishing wasnt the greatest.

What type of hunting is in that area? Im guessing the quail hunting should be good.

I might move back to Kansas, its an 8 hour drive to Stephenville and the hunting is great. I could be hunting deer, quail.pheasant, turkey all on some form of public land within 20 miles of my house out there. The problem is the lakes are small with decent fishing at best.

Deer, quail, pheasants (far north) and thousands of turkeys, plus antelope and elk in the right areas.

I'll concur with Whiskey. I'd also add ft. cobb to the list. It has some good walley, saugeye, and crappie fishing. The bass fishing there can be good, and there are even smallies in it. I can't remember the names of them, but there used to be a couple smaller lakes in the NW part that were good, just numbers no size.

I wouldn't count on quail or pheasant since quail are cyclical and both are in decline. I would think overall hunting would be better in Kansas and fishing better in OK. I'm not aware of any good or great fishing in western OK, but it's still better than the TX Panhandle where I live.

Grove, OK is only 6.5 hours from Stephenville and 11 to my hometown in CO. I could see me making that move.

Now you're talking. Grand hasn't been fishing good for the last few years but there are lakes close to it that are always good.
