On lakes that have hundreds and hundreds of wooden boathouses such as the main two lakes I fish Palestine and Tyler, do most of the bass tend to hangout around the abundant shallow cover or hangout offshore in the middle of summer and winter? Just wondering because I feel like I never see anyone fishing Deep structure around here like they do at places like fork or Rayburn

Boat house are great on both lakes. Tyler has good offshore stuff too though and I spend quite a bit of time offshore there. Palestine has some offshore stuff, but if I was competing I would stick to docks. That said, I try to combine the 2 and concentrate mostly on the docks have the deepest ends. If the end of the dock is in less than 6ft I would skip it, if it is in 12ft (rare to non-existent on both lakes) then I stick around and pick it apart for a while. And I am not just hitting the dock ends, I catch quite a few behind these deeper docks as well (between the dock and shoreline).

I've wacked them deep on Palestine in the summer and fall down south on 6xd numerous times.

Never been on Palestine but my son is headed to college at UT Tyler next week. Plan to meet him on some weekends and fish Palestine. Looks like a nice lake but heard it’s pretty stumpy.

It's is a dangerous lake. But a local guide sells a chip with the boat lanes and 99% of the Hazzards on it

I think it comes down to shallow water (Docks) are just easier to fish. Now if you have very good electronics, and they are getting better by the day and you use them well, most your bigger fish and amounts up to about 80-85 percent will be deep but you always have some resident fish to fill out that 15-20 percent. The problem is , unless you are dropping right on them out deep, you are basically aiming at a target the size of a truck 25 feet below you as opposed to seeing what you are going after on a dock.

I only have a 7 inch lowrance with gps decent sonar and downscan but crappy side scan but I try to make do with what I have

As a kayak guy overwhelmingly my fishing in shallow to maybe a mid depth.
