Since I am going to have to drill and extract my set screws on both hubs on one axles I am looking at alternatives. One is to buy new hubs and rotors and hope I can get my caliber bolts free. The other option I am eying is the Kodiak bearing protectors with the plastic caps. I was wondering if anyone has ever used them. I am not too worried about the fact that they are plastic because my center caps will protect them. My one concern is draining and replacing the oil.

Looks like I am going to just replace the bearing protectors with the Kodiaks. The plastic cover unscrews so they should be easy to drain and refill.

StumpJumper: I looked those up and they don't say what material they are. If they're not stainless steel, I wouldn't bother with them. Original Bearing Buddies come in chrome-plated steel or stainless steel, for a lot more bucks. My plated Reese ones are seriously rusted after less than a year. Next time, I'm gonna spend more and hope they last. Buy once, cry once! IslandJim

They are for oil bath hubs. Buddy Bearings are for grease. They are aluminum
