Got out yesterday as soon as the gates opened at Lake Park on the Lew. Had my gizzards I had caught the day before (they kept fine in the fridge overnight, still looked and smelled very fresh!) and also some chicken breast I had soaked in dead red just to test those out.

Lots of fish moving early. Caught 5 or 6 sandies on a popper as I drifted the shad in 20-30 feet of water riding the wind south to north. Not a bite. Marking lots of fish and activity but no nibbles. Went up and anchored near the fishing hut or barge deal as I saw a lot of bait moving there in 25 feet. Not bites. Kept moving down the bank marking some fish and bait and deploying on anchor. After 15 mins of nothing I would move spots. Toward the end of the trip (I fished from 7 to 1230) I tried some of the breasts just for fun. Same results.

So thats my report LOL! Hope yall found it helpful. Blue catting aint easy! I plan to try again next Monday. Hopefully we get a break in the heat! I drank tons of fluids, had all my sun gear on, even took two brief swims to cool off and it still took a lot out of me... paddling and fishing in this heat.

My old fishing partners killed the catfish north of the Little Elm boat ramp. 4 hour trip got them 20 keepers last Saturday.
