I have been looking at past fishing reports and it says buzzbaits in 15 to 20 ft. Is that right and if so, do they mean schooling fish?

Make sure you count to three before you set the hook.

I caught my biggest fish two weeks ago on a Zara Spook early. There were some schooling fish throughout the day, but we caught the bulk of our fish in about 15'-20' of water on Carolina rigs off main lake points and humps down south. Good luck.

The schooling bite has been a lot of fun over the last two months. I caught plenty of fish in 15 to 20 ft on poppers, but I suspect you could have used anything that was about the size of the bait they were chasing. 1/4 oz Yellow Magic seemed to be the best for me. If you can get the a bait through them the bigger fish are below.

Ain’t a Yellow Magic a floater? How do you get below anything with that bait? Haha.

I have been following this thread. Because MY birthday is 9-1 and I always plan a fishing trip. This year I hope to go to Rayburn since I have not been in many years. Dont even know where to launch my boat. I live out side of Tyler on highway 69 so If you have a boat ramp that you would recommend I would appreciate it. Going to drive down and fish all day a drive home that night. Not looking for specific spots but good info to create a good day of fishing on my birthday would be awesome. By the way I will be 72 and still love fishing ! And if you can send me to a nice place to eat near that boat ramp That would be super nice Thanks

Put in at Cassels Boykin and fish the Canyons and Deer Stand areas. Come back in and stop at Lakeview RV/Motel store on your way out for a pretty darn good burger. Good luck and happy birthday.

Spot on advice! Exact same thing I would have said, I’d just throw in fish around bird island area as well.. Happy Birthday!
