This season started off looking like water world, with my favorite haunts about five feet to deep to fish. It feels weird to pole the boat over, what is usually, dry ground. Some of the "flats" were so covered in vegetation it looked like the Everglades in a way. Most of the parks were flooded out.

The Corp. has been drawing over 1900cfs since the end of may and the flats are now getting the right elevation to spot fish. And the fish have been cooperating. If you can see them before they see you, get a good cast on a feeding fish, it will usually get a look and with a little luck, will get an eat. But, sometimes you can do everything just right and still will not get a take. Nobody said this kind of fishing was easy. And that's why we do it.

Very nice report Cpt Mac. Pity your photos are spoilt by the logo.

Captain.

Does Ray Roberts look like this right now? I wanted to launch out of Jordan and hit the back trees with the 5wt. As of 7.16.19 it is .56 above pool.

I am used to parking the skiff and wading in less than knee high water back there.

Thanks Justin

Checked my log book. 7/12 the elevation was +1.22 and 7/14 was +0.94.
7/28/18 the elevation was -1.28
7/17/17 - 0.25
7/20/16 +0.31

Still just a bit higher than around this time in previous season but its not far off, especially if they keep releasing water.
The flats i like to fish just keep getting better the lower the water gets.

Let us hope there are fish out there starting today! What a year it has been ... I've had a lot of time to work on my poling skiff and skills!

Glad the water is finally coming back down to normal! Might need to invent and electric poler that has a joystick lol. Hey it’s a thought Look forward to hitting them with you soon! Great stuff as always looking forward to seeing the next video bud.

Right now is about as good as a guy could ask for Robert. Whenever your ready, you have my number. I went out this morning. Shot more video than i did fish but still caught two Carp. Lots of fish on the flats and a lot of variety. Drum, catfish and, surprisingly, quite a few Black bass. I poled Nate up on one that he caught in about twelve inches of water - we weighed it at two and a quarter pounds. Water temp was 91.1 degrees. Go figure. I saw three bass this morning this i guessed at 1 1/2 - 3 pounds.(smallest to biggest fish). Tons of catfish also. I don't much care for them but they will blast a fly.

Carp on a fly is always fun, even over a picnic table.
