Not to be a smart ace but do you break a lot of rods?
I have broken 2 in 30 years of fishing and both were because I am stupid........I have never tried to warranty stupid.

I don’t break them often.. I once bought a 13 fishing rod made a cast with a 1/8oz shaky head and the tip broke off and could not get it returned anywhere...

7 years on Ugly Stiks, but you seem to be in a different price class.

13fishing rods are equivalent to Academy rods in my eyes, with Academy having the edge on returns. Iv'e never had to use it but here is Daiwa's.
ROD WARRANTY
Daiwa rods are covered by a 1 year, 5 year, or limited lifetime warranty accordingly depending on the model of the rod. The warranty extends only to the original owner. Once the rod is received, our service technicians will inspect to identify the issue, and if it is determined to be a manufacturing defect, we will repair or replace the rod at no charge. In case the damage to the rod is determined to not be warranty eligible (missing parts, accidental, misuse, inadequate care, wear and tear) a replacement rod will be offered for a discounted charge. An estimate will be sent to customer showing the cost of the replacement. The customer must make payment to Daiwa before shipment of replacement rod. Please follow these instructions when returning rods or reels for warranty repair: *DO NOT CUT RODS*, enclose proof of purchase and a Repair Request Form with nature of problem. Also, please list the model name and number of rod and your return address. To protect against loss or damage in transit, your rod should be carefully packaged and adequately insured. Please retain all shipping receipts.

Academy can't be beat, either dobyns or Falcon bucoo's are the best they sell so that would be what I would go for.

I think a lot of rod manufacturers will replace a rod in the first 3 months if you break one out of $3500 order. I recently had the tip break off a G Loomis (IMX) I bought in February, I cant for the life of me figure out how it happened. I gave no information on the warranty sheet other than purchase date and my address and they sent me a new one without ever calling me about the breakage.
I had a similar experience with Kistler, though the rod was a little older and a i little higher end. Both scenarios are contrary to their posted warranty information.

Lews has a 1yr warranty on any of their rods starting at the TP1 and up in price range. I have only asked them to replace one and it was a no questions asked transaction. Only thing I had to do was cut the area of the rod out that has the model number on it and mail it to them in a small envelope. Less than a week later I had a new rod. Lew's has always been a pleasure to deal with for me.

Falcon rods cannot be returned to Academy if broken Nope, I had one given to me as a gift, broke it on the first trip on a 2lb bass. Took back to Academy and they were going to give me 10.00 off a new one. The sad thing is every one they had in stock had a white mark in the same location as the one I broke, it was where they banded them together to ship them to store.
