Hello folks I am moving from Crazyfornia to New Braunfels around the end of the year. I need to know what kind of lake fishing to expect and how much of my gear I should bring along. Is there trolling to be done, or is it all casting, what ?? Got rid of most of my tournament stuff to a high school fish club. Kept one Senko rod and G Loomis GLX finesse rods. I have a bunch of trolling rods and striper bait rods from the San Joaquin River and Crazyfornia Delta. Should I bring the trolling stuff ?? Just want easy fun fishing no more tournament stress (did for 17 years). I understand there are several kinds of bass in TX. I am familiar with LM and SM bass and tidal migrating stripers. What tactics are used for the others ?? All advice will be appreciated. Will be getting a boat later on after I learn what is appropriate. My river fishing boat won't fit in my new garage so it will go before we move. Thanks in advance.

At New Braunfels you will have Canyon Lake in your backyard. It has lmb, smb, and stripers.

Welcome to the greatest state in the country! It is such a shame that an incredible area like the California Delta has to be in a state with all of those leftist communists. I have never done it but I would imagine that you can troll for stripers. You're not too far from Austin which has lots of lakes.

Welcome...I also made the great escape. I couldn't stand what a s***hole the state was becoming and losing friends to the newest craze of "ME<ME<ME" started to take it's toll.
For those not familiar with ME<ME<ME = If it doesn't benefit ME, It isn't for ME, and everything is about ME, so you should cater to ME.

to the TFF! New Braunfels has a lot of places to fish. The Guadalupe River in New Braunfels along with the Comal River hold nice fish. Also Lake Mcqueeney,Placid, and Meadow have nice fish. You can also venture to Canyon Lake. Other water bodies that are close by are the San Marcus and Blanco Rivers. There are also a lot nice creeks in the area as well.

Hey, I moved here from California Bay Area in 2015. The California Delta was my home and I still miss it very much to this day.
I'm in Fort Worth and I've never been to New Braunfels but hit me up if need help or have any other questions.
As far as you what you mentioned and asked above, you should be fine.

You can only fish McQueeney if you live on the lake or know somebody. McQueeney is the Texas public lake that the public can't fish.

And even if you buy on McQueeny, you won't be able to fish it for long. Seeing as they're about to drain it for good.

If our elected prostitutes, AKA politicians, continue to pass monstrosities like Kali's Law, it may not make that much difference where we live.
