We will be going down for a couple of the big bass tournaments this year for the first time and I need some insight on how bad the boat ramps are and around what time is a good time to get to the boat ramp to put in during these tournaments? We will but putting in near lake fork marina which I am assuming has plenty of parking but again I have never been. Any insight to this would be extremely helpful!

If there is a link to previous conversations please send me that direction and I can remove this. I tried to search for it and came up empty.

There is a ton of pay boat ramps so it is not to bad except at the public ramps go to a pay ramp it is worth a few bucks.

Lots of ramps all over the lake. My experience on the public ones for these big bass tourneys is the earlier the better unless you plan to wait in line for quite some time. LFM has some parking but not a ton as a lot of their land will be taken up by the tents, etc for the event. The public ramps all have a lot of parking available. You can also find private ramps with some of the rentals available on the lake.

Most of the big bass tournaments go out of LFM. I try to stay far away from there due to the crowds unless Im weighing fish in during the tournament. But it can be a cluster over there!

The Lake Fork Marina area, where the tournaments are held, is so bad at times the sides of highway 17 will have boats and vehicles lined up and down both sides of the highway for a mile or so. This is caused not only by the shear number of boats, but also the fact that a large portion of the LFM grounds are taken up by the weigh in tent, vendors, etc. Unloading at the Lake Fork Marina boat ramp can be a real challenge if even possible. If you stay there you might get a boat slip depending on how early you book. That's hard to beat. Depending on how far I plan to run, I usually get to the ramp about an hour before first cast as long as there isn't a rule stating when boats are allowed to start unloading. At the pay ramps it usually isn't too hard to get there, pay and be unloaded in 30 minutes or so.

You have to see it to believe it. Understand there are sometimes 3500-4000 entries plus you have the public that comes to the weigh-in. " Cluster " is an understatement. And getting a spot to beach your boat to weigh in a fish can test your patience. Having been and experienced all this I stay away but must admit it can also be a lot of fun, just be prepared for anything.

We have always used Oakridge or Minnow Bucket. It costs a few bucks, but it’s worth it. If you go an hour or so before fishing time begins, you won’t have any problems.

Pay is usually $3, well worth it during big tourneys.

Agreed.

LFM is my favorite place on the lake but I avoid it during big events. Hwy 17 Public ramp is about a mile from there and has a lot of parking. Good double-wide ramp and nice floating dock. Get your boat in the water early. If it is during Sealy Outdoors (3500+) get there by 4:30 am or you will be sorry.
