One thread about the Forest Wood Cup, presently taking place in Arkansas.

Has FLW become that irrelevant?

To a lot of people, yes. Especially late in the year like this...

If any two of the three....Cox, Martin, Thrift....move to another trail next year, that makes FLW a tier two series in my mind. It basically already is and quite a few actually fishing the series say the same.

If you can essentially just buy your way in, it's just not as interesting to me.

Still lots of great anglers fishing it and I still watch the ones I record on my DVR on lakes that I actually want to watch someone fish on. This lake isn't in that category. 11# leading right now with only 4 guys at 10# or above.

It's been a lower status than BASS and with the emergence of MLF it's now third fiddle. I wouldn't say it's irrelevant; folks only have so much interest to spread around and MLF gobbled up a bunch of that this year. And like Lizard said, the casual angler is tuned out by August.

FLW puts on a good show, it draws healthy crowds in Arkansas and fills the arena they have set aside for it in Hot Springs but it's still nowhere near the spectacle the Classic is. I've been to two Cups now since it has been so close and cheap to attend and enjoyed both visits.

I like the FLW tour. I like a lot of the anglers fishing it. Lots of them do really good videos on their travel, practice and tourneys which makes it more interesting.

For next year except for a few sponsor exemptions its basically merit based which is what its needed to be for a long time https://www.flwfishing.com/rules/flw

How much does it cost to enter an FLW event or for the year?

Personally I don't think that every tournament should be a pre spawn/ spawn slug fest. I like watching these guys have to grind on a lake that is fishing pretty tough every now and then. Brings in some other skill sets besides sight fishing and beating the bank.

Don't look now but some of the guys fishing up north of the 270 bridge are looking at 'em.

I believe FLW has the best "system" for an inspiring pro. BFL's > Costa's > Tour

Totally agree. I wish there was a BFL in northeast Texas. I follow FLW as much as I follow BASS. They have always produced good tournaments since I started following in 2001.

Fished my first ever tournament as a coangler in a 2004 BFL and it was life changing.

College, BFL's, Costa's, Tour. They seem to have all bases covered.

Nothing against the format but watching guys catch a limit of 2 pounders is about as exciting as watching paint dry
