Sand bass are on the old road bed, as of last Saturday. Caught about 50 in an hour. All but a couple were keepers. The biggest was about 13”. It was about 2:30 in the afternoon. Caught about 20 crappie from 7am-2pm then went up there just to see if they were there. Using a white Wet Rooster Texas Tornado tail spinner 5/8 oz. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this report, I went this evening to the lake for the first time. I headed for the road bed and found it easily on my Helix. I went to the more obvious looking spots on the map where it appeared maybe there was either an old bridge or a creek crossing. I caught 45 in about 2 hours, all on a tail spinner type bait. My boat was in 10 ft and fish were up on top and on the windy facing side. All were keepers with the biggest at 14 inches.

They are a little bigger this year than the last several years. My buddies and I have boated A LOT of sandbass at Bwell and a 14" is something to be proud of from there!!

Rod I thought I passed you in Midlothian on Sunday towing your yellow boat. Was that you?

I'm sure it was me. I fished Bardwell Sat., Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday was Awesome for crappie. Prolly caught 40, in 5 hours, and kept 24. Miss counted again! LOL. Wednesday was just the opposite. Very few crappie but the sandbass were back on the road bed. 14" sandbass is definitely a good fish for Bardwell. Just be careful and make sure it is a sandbass. Hybrids are stocked yearly and it could very well have been a hybrid. I was checked by the Game Warden for the first time on Bardwell Sunday. I wasn't keeping anything so it was no problem. I was sure glad to see them make a showing out there. My Grand-daughter was pleased as she got a wrist band for having her life jacket on.
