I took a couple of days off early in the week to celebrate a 45th Wedding Anniversary, but Adam fished those days and then I returned to help him out on Wednesday thru Saturday. We had some White Bass Top Water Schooling every morning on the 309 Flats. A couple of days it lasted all AM but most days it was over after an hour or so. Sure makes a difference with a boat or two fishing the Top Water like it should be versus yesterday when the boat numbers increased and the folks "raced" to every pop up school. (We're spoiled on Richland Chambers as there's usually no more than 8 or 10 boats on the 45,000 acre Lake on a Weekday!) banana We left the Flats to get away from the boat show after about an hour yesterday, moved up the Creek Arms and slabbed up our limits. Fish are schooling all over the Lake but the Flats is the most consistent. The Creek fish are often in 10-15 FOW, are holding tight to humps and drop offs and when you find them easy to catch! Here's some Pics from last week. The last one is a nice Bouquet that Adam made for his Mom for an Anniversary Gift! roflmao We've got some August Weekdays we need to fill, an open boat on the last Saturday in August and Labor Day Monday. Let's Go Fishin' !

Just in case someone is reading this report and planning a trip to RC to get in on the Top water Action, you might want to change your plans. After last weeks trips of good Top Water on most days, I've fished the last two days and caught two fish total on top. We still got our box of nice Whites but had to burn a lot of gas, fish fast moving suspended/bottom schools of Whites and go up the Creek & fish on drop offs, humps and ridges. Fish are in 10'-20' FOW max and do not stay in one location after you catch a handful of fish. All fish caught on the RSR Slab/Jig combo. Looks to me like the Dog Days of Summer have arrived in the past couple of days. It's a typical Summer (August/September) pattern and will last (or get tougher) thru September. Talked to the "Live Bait /Hybrid Guys and their bite got tougher also in the past two days. Oh welll....the mild Summer is over and we just have to fish a little harder. grin

Monday thru Wednesday was Fair to Good but all fish caught on Slabs/Jigs with no Top Water Action at all. The Main Lake is fishing tough once again and we're heading up the Creeks to find our fish on Points, Humps and Ridges in 20' FOW or less. Guess the thermocline has moved the bait and fish to the shallower depths. As the Summer winds down and school is near, our calendar opens up. We have some Weekdays open starting next week and a boat open on the last two Saturdays in August as well as Labor Day Monday. Give us a call and Let's Go Fishin'! Here's the Pics from earlier this week:

Adam and I finished off the week on Friday and Saturday with regular Customers bringing new Friends and Family to RC. On Friday, Darrell from Houston had DFW Friends meet him halfway and filled the ice chests with limits of White Bass. On Saturday, the Almazan Family from Odessa made the long trip, stayed in the Lodge at Fisherman's Point Marina on Friday Night and then caught fish all morning long on Saturday. Almost all fish caught on RSR Slabs in water depths from 10'-20' FOW and most on Points, Ledges and Humps up the Chambers Arm of the Lake. Still got a few August Weekdays open before School starts and have a boat open on the Labor Day Weekend on Saturday and Monday. Here's the Pics from Friday and Saturday:

I fish both Creek Arms for Whites but kind of depends on the time of the Summer as some really good Points& Humps10 miles up the Richland Arm hold lots of fish during early Summer. As we move into the latter part of Summer, some Ridges and Humps on the Chambers Arm produce better. Key is really depth and bait and there's some places where both combine to hold fish that not many folks fish for. We usually have these locations pretty much to ourselves as you have to burn some gas to get there and maneuver in the timber to find the fish. Great place to go when the Main Lake gets tougher like it is now or on a Saturday to get away from the crowd. You could tell it was a little tougher on Saturday as we stopped on a couple of Main Lake Points before going up the Lake. About 5 minutes after putting the TM down, there would be 4 or 5 boats on top of you. I headed up the Creek quickly while Adam stayed on some fish and dealt with the other fishermen. He made the better choice as his count was better than mine! grin We're spoiled on RC as we pretty much have the 45,000 acre Lake all to ourselves even on a Summer Weekday.
