my grandkids live in Granbury I was planning on going to visit them this weekend was taking the boat with me so I can take them bass fishing don't know anything about the lake any suggestions for putting them on a couple of bass would be appreciated

there is a boat lane,,, Get out early if on the weekend.. Lot of jet flies and other boats.. creature baits...

Hopefully someone will post some usable current fishing tips but Granbury is a tough bass lake for me. Find the sandbass and the grandkids can have a blast. Went a week ago and went from Rough Creek ramp all the way up the Brazos River way above Tin Top just sight seeing with my wife. Beautiful....except the wakeboard boats! You’ve really got dodge the breakers that come off those boats.

Take them boys down the road and go to Squaw. They will have a lot better chance with bass if that is what they are shooting for.

Texas rigged 7” .Berkeley blue fleck power worms are a constant for kids to catch squaw bass. Grownups too for that matter.

To fish Granbury, you have to be finished by 8 - 8:30am on Saturday and before noon on Sunday. Wife and I were out on Sunday after lunch and there were 5 - 6 ft waves from the wake boats. The lake never stops moving as the waves just bounce from one side of the lake to the other. There is very little natural bank to absorb them as 99% of the shore has a bulkhead. You have to stay in the marked highway or you will sink your boat. I have seen it happen. A boat sinking is amazingly quiet.

Fish docks and retaining walls. The lake has bouys from the dam to the river. Very few places you need to actually follow them

Follow the boat lane please if you don't know the lake.. This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is bad advice....

I live on the lake and if you're unfamiliar with the lake, I agree 100% to follow the channel markers. There's some places if you're 200ft off of the marker, you're in trees and I don't mean little willows but huge 1 foot diameter trunks. It's amazing to watch the wake boats go flying through a forest with no care in the world and many of these trees are only a foot under the surface. During the drought, many owners along the shore tried to go out and chain saw down these trees and were fined by the Brazos River Authority saying it's "their property".
Just be careful...

It's been so tough lately that I haven't even gone out. Crappie are good on minnows in 15 feet in the trees, bass are the slowest I've ever seen. Combine the flooding over the fall/winter with the 100 degree days and you can understand. We've been out twice and skunked both times. Caught 70 crappie one day and while fishing for them, had a school of sand bass pop up all around us but it's been unusually slow this year. Haven't caught a striper this year. Hoping it starts picking up with the temperature changes in September and we get back to normal.

Just came in from a great morning today. We are across from Stumpy’s marina and a bass tournament was launching. Interesting to watch since I haven’t fished one since I was 15. We KNEW a front was going to hit at 10 am and it did but at 9:55. We were really having issues catching anything up by the dam. Bait balls by the hundreds everywhere but nothing biting. Finally pulled up to the docks and caught a couple of bass on Ned Rigs but really slow. Finally around 9am, wind went calm so we headed up around the pump station and the sand bass/stripers came up to the surface. We probably caught 35-40 mixed. All the stripers were tiny and under 8”. We were really happy to see them as we’ve been worried about losing them with all the floods. Looks like we’ll have a good supply of nice ones in a couple of years. Caught a few more largemouth right on the shoreline with rattletraps until the wind started up which shut them down. Headed home and now, football time. Boomer!

Yep, there are some places you can get off them but there are 4 or 5 areas you better be in them for sure
