Took the two grandkids (6 and 11) to Cedron Park this past weekend to do some camping and fishing before school starts. First time camping at this park and it is a very nice park.--- Bait was plenty around boat ramp very early in the morning. We fished off the point that stretches into the main lake. The kids fished and swam for about three hours in the morning and caught some blue cat on the shad. Saturday evening we went back out and fished and swam some more catching more channel and blue cats on shad. About one hour before sundown is when all heck broke loose. With our lawn chairs sitting in calf deep water the shad came in followed by one of the biggest schools of white bass I have ever seen. The whole point on the right side had fish boiling the water from six inches deep to as far as you could cast. I had a rod ready with a white/pearl Cocahoe on it and for about a hour nearly every cast we had a fish. I'd hang one and hand it to the munchkins to reel in taking turns. They were good size to big white bass. No stripers with them, well none that we caught. Kids had a total blast, I never heard so much laughing. Don't know if it is every evening right before dark they do that but it would be well worth your time to try it if your in the area. -----also if you are wanting bait/shad for the next day, right before the feeding frenzy I threw my net and had about 2/3 of a five gallon bucket in one through. Unreal!!! Good Luck!!
