I am having troubles getting my helix 10 to turn on, and to stay on once it starts. I might have to disconnect/reconnect the plugs five times or more to get it to start.

How do I fix this?

Wire it directly to the battery. Fixed mine.

Is there a Helix 12 that has both side and down imaging?

The G2N and G3N Helix 12 SI models have 2D sonar, Side Imaging, and true Down Imaging.
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS G2N
Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N

The first generation Helix 12 SI units have 2D sonar, Side Imaging and Composite Down Imaging views.
Composite DI is generated via software by blending the two SI pulses.

I have never done a software update on my Helix 10 with side imaging. Its working fine. What advantages are there in risking a software upgrade?

If its working fine stay with current software. There isn't any must have features with software updates. They mostly try to correct issues but that can also create new ones. Depending on which helix you have some of the recent software updates new features are geared towards the new Minn Kota MDI trolling motor

To network two helix graphs, I can just put a ethernet cable to them? Also doesn't the software have to be the same on both units to network them? I have an older Helix 10 Si and Im getting a new Mega Helix 12 Si. They also both have to have map cards correct? Will they share mapping with the helix 10 having an older hot maps platinum and a new map card on the new graph?

After the helix 12 and helix 10 are linked, If I get a ultrex/ulterra will I need a hub or can I just plug the "link" troller motor into another port on the front helix 10 graph and that will act as a hub?

I bet its not too long and we will get rid of all the cables....?

Anyone know of any discounts on new helix 12 Si units?

An Ethernet cable and a AS EC QDE Ethernet adapter for each Helix unit.

Both should have their current software.

Helix units don't share mapping, if you want the same mapping on both, then both need the same map card.

An Ethernet cable only has two ends and there is no Y cable to connect them. Soooo you would need the AS ETH 5 PXG Ethernet Switch to connect three devices together. LINK is an Ethernet connection.

What would be the best transducer for me on my trolling motor? I have a Solix 12 on the front.

Which solix 12 do you have. Mega or mega +. What sonar capabilities do you want from the trolling motor transducer

I will have to check. The transducer that came on my trolling motor was a Mega SI. Does this transducer have Chirp as well?
