I will be in Port A next week for the first time in several years and will fish the south jetty a few times while i'm there and have some questions. How is the walk down to the end since the hurricane, can a cart be used without having to carry it a lot? What's the water look like this week? What's being caught?

It's about a mile long. A cart would be tough because there's no straight/flat walkway. Pack light and know your target species. Have a plan and try not to do anything dumb. Water was sandy/brown in the surf until at least Saturday. It's clearing now but probably still has a stain.
I'm not a chick.

Made a quick trip to Port Aransas on Monday, fished Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday the wind was blowing and the surf was nasty. Tried fishing on the channel side of the south jetty but nothing was biting not even bait. Walked out about half way looking for anything used lures and frozen mullet, nothing.
Wednesday, the wind was slowing down so tried the jetty again. Pinfish were biting so used a few of them for bait, tried a few spots and found some Reds, all under sized but fun to catch. Moved to a few spots and caught more under sized reds and Mangrove snapper about 1/2 lb each. The surf was laying down and noticed the cleaner water was at the pier so went there. It was a sandy green past the 3rd bar, tried a few lures hoping for some macks, trout, nothing. One person hung a big drum about 30lbs he did not have a net and lost it at the pier. There were a lot of sharks being caught so we fished for them, caught 2 and lost 6. It was fun and hope to be back next year.
The walk down the jetty is rougher then it used to be, a cart can be used about 100 yards past the beach before it gets rough. Also, about half way down it gets slick, I did not go any further then that.

Thanks for the report! It's frustrating when you go and soon after you leave it clears up. Seems to happen to me all the time. Today/tomorrow should be better.
You get out of it what you put into it!
