Received a phone call from (888) 224-8869 ( Stating Social Security Administration) advising me that my SSN number had been suspended because of suspicious activity and if I wanted to know what it was press 1. Guess my question is do you have to press 1 before all the bad stuff starts happening or are you safe by just hanging up. Not a techy that's why the question. I thought AT&T was stopping the robo calls.

Call your local SS office and ask them if they suspend a SSN . . . . . Please let us know what they say.

They spoof the phone numbers. Most likely they are not calling from Houston.

By answering the call you confirmed that the phone number is good. That puts your number on a confirmed list of numbers to sell to all scammers.
