I recently bought a boat that has a HDS 5 on the flush console. I have a Garmin 7.3 sv on my old boat that I'm planning to swap over. My question is if i leave the HDS on the console and mount the Garmin to the side will they interfere with each other? I would like to be able to run both units if possible. If not then i wil just go with the bigger screen.

I just took my 16" carbon out of the console, bought a dual mount and added a Helix 9 on my right for mapping. Way stronger than using a ram mount.

Most likely they will interfere if you mean you want to run a transducer for each one depending on the frequency each uses..
Usually when you run dual units they are the same brand and share a transducer or one is just for mapping without a transducer hooked up.

As long as you're not running the same frequencies on the transducers there shouldn't be any interference.

I dont know about the other brand, but you should be able to go in the hds and change the ping speed which should help with running the same frequency on both...
