Im heading to the trinity tomorrow to target gar. Launching from loop 12 ramp. Ill be using cut bait. Ive only been able to catch long nose (which is pretty awesome) but Im really wanting to go for alligator gar. I havent been out there since last summer. Any tips???

Nice fish! I've only had a few Alligator Gar and they were all sightfished. I've heard the big boys really like the slack areas of the river, let your bait drift under a float until it stops in one and that should be the sweet spot. Good luck!

Catch and release. The dream - to catch one of every species of Freshwater fish in our great state! If only I can resist Carp...
