Is there a path from the island to Indian or Buck. I tried to search existing threads, and all I could find is stumps everywhere. I know there is nothing marked and it was a long idle out there last time.

Thanks

There are several "paths". There is no way to learn them via the internet and you have to be careful who you follow. There are people running all over the place where they shouldn't be.

Yes, you definitely want to go with someone that knows the paths a few times. The lake is normal now, so many of the big stumps are hidden. You can get into bad habits and think you know how to go until the lake drops. I cringe watching some folks run in dangerous areas.

There is nothing like fishing and seeing a boat come screaming in too fast and watching their lower unit tumbling behind the boat as they slow to a stop.....
Be careful!

It's only a good cast if you catch a fish...

just drive slow in the arms, until you know exactly where you can drive, and even then i don't go much more than a fast idle.

Doesnt matter how many times Ive run Indian, still causes major pucker factor. At 2+ft low I dont think Id even run it... 3 ft out of the lane and your stuff is tore up

There is no Lance Vick or Lake Fork Guide Boat Lanes Chip on this lake. The only way you are going to know how to run it is go out there when the lake is extremely low, or follow someone who knows how to run it.

Boat lanes to me are like hand-loaded ammunition. I trust my own reloads... but I am apprehensive to share them with other people or shoot someone else's. A guide with a lot of experience and a reputation to protect will put in the effort to publish reliable boat lanes. I would hate to hear of someone running my line and getting hurt or damaging their boat.

I have one lane to Indian and up into Buck Creek but with the water dropping I'll be trimmed up and idling through parts of it. It's the closest lake to my home and fish there pretty often but there is still a lot to learn (especially north of Wolf).

Run past any of the poles that were put in when the lake was built and you are risking damage. It is not just trees, it is fence posts and H braces, concrete foundations, etc.. all manor of old farm stuff under the water. I live there and have been fishing there for a very long time and I still get nervous running and still idle when I am not sure. RR tracks in Buck you can run no problem but other than that boater beware.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Best way to learn is go on a calm sunny day and idle slowly and literally watch for stumps. Then you can mark them on your graph. But I literally idled up 5 -10 times before I ran up to the back of Indian. Same with Wolf. There are tons of stumps that come into play when the water drops.

I was coming out of Indian last year and thought I was where I needed too be, I wasnt.. I hit something and ripped a big gouge in the bottom of my boat.. Looking at the damage, I think I hit someone elses prop that had gotten knocked off their boat. I was going just enough to be on plane but still tore mine up..
Ill never run up there again, I dont care if it takes forever to idle where Im going...
