Anyone else heading out to Port A this weekend?

Boat is all ready to go. Buddy and I are going out, and taking his son. My son has a track meet so cannot make it frown

Oh, added the new top this weekend to the boat.. what a pain in the boat!.. lol

But, last supplies are coming in tomorrow.. she is outfitted, I hope, and ready to go. Hoping to find a USCG person to do an inspection when we get down there so I can get a sticker too.

My guess is, grab some frozen ribbonfish, frozen mullet and shrimp, frozen squid... and either a throw net and catch some live finger mullet or buy a couple dozen. Should get us by, who knows.

Hoping to meet up with some other people down there, get to know some people again.. make friends.. heh.

Hoping to get the drone up in follow me mode and get some nice shots, but my drone flying buddy is not going so... gotta drive the boat. We will see.

Debating renting a slip vs a hotel room, and plugging into shore power..

Russ

Weather looks to be good! I'll be down there. Taking the kayaks out. I've never checked into renting a slip. No clue how available they are. I know there are several tournaments down there this weekend. If you don't already have a room booked you might check into that before they're all booked up.

Yeah I'm not fishing in any tournaments. Just trying to catch a king or two. A cobia would be the ultimate.

Got any pics of her with her top on?

Okay, I got a slip for the boat for Friday and Saturday night. No a/c on her yet, hoping next year, but I am okay with that lol

Here she is with the top. I took the side decals off, so she is a little bare atm.. and could really use a wash.. heh.. but she's ready to go out at least wink (p.s. yes, she has registration decals, I removed them for the picture. heh)

There's more than enough mullet down there, no need to buy any. Bayside and off beaches from Goose island all the way to North Padre Island was full of horse and finger mullet last week.

Good to know. We will have a throw net and setups for bait. I like some cut bait just in case though. Just want to make sure we get something to show for the work lol

Only three of us going (2 adults and one kid), was amazed when I kept inviting guys out that no-one could make it... heh

That is funny....do not remember if I ever caught a Skip... may have.. but had no idea that "canned tuna" was skipjack. Just yesterday I was like, "I wonder why yellowfin never tastes like this.." lol as I ate a tuna sandwich.. well.. now I know :P

Hoping to make new friends at the docks this weekend. While I have been to Port A more times than I can count, this is a new boat.. bigger than I have ever owned before.. and so, never had a need to USE the vhf, heck.. all the years I had one, never talked on it, now I have one for scanning and one for talking with friends....when I make some.. lol

Was looking over the new one last night (manual).. dang thing has way points hoping to develop a network of folks so I have folks to fish with when I go out there.

Only 3 of us going out this weekend, if anyone cares to go fishing. (no, "want me to do that for you" [censored].. lol!.. had a guy do that once.. he never even owned a boat..I was like, no..but you can check the bottom of the hull for me if you like".. lol

Welp... so much for my trip. We made it as far as Cabelas and noticed the trailer wheels were at about 210-225 degrees so, we let them cool down and then went back home. By the time we got home, under 40 miles away, they were back at 228.

So, I will be replacing the brakes on the trailer before I am able to take it back out.
