I made the unusual choice to ditch my Skeeter and bought a Hobie Pro Angler a few years ago. This is not the best fit for everyone, but I freaking love it and fish more now than I have in many years.
However, fishing out of a yak requires that I slow down and thoroughly fish an area before moving on. Because of this, I have seriously considered adding a Humminbird 360 to maximize my time in a given area by seeing "all" of the underwater structure, weed lines, humps and channels.
For those who use a Humminbird 360:
1) Do you find it helpful? 2) Would you ever give it up? 3) Do you strongly recommend it to others? 4) Are there any hidden issues that don't make it into the public eye?
Thank you in advance for your feedback.

From a kayak; if youre going to invest in a 360; youd want the transducer completely below the level of the hull The 360 transducer is a globe/cylinder shape that might be difficult to accommodate in the PA transducer well Interested to hear or see if youve found some good solutions/modification.
Suppose you could just hang it off the front or side with a transducer arm.

The couple of examples I have seen on kayaks have them on the aft end and a transducer for depth in the center of the hull/scupper/transducer hole. Sort of how a Power Pole Micro is done.
The Ultrex mount version would be the easiest to adapt to a kayak since it has a mount plate, but I think a custom attachment was used.

1. Yes you will find things that you hadn't noticed before and makes it easy to target structure in relation to your kayak. 2. Probably not until something that does a very similar job comes along. 3. Yes I recommend it. It isn't the most important tool in the boat but does add that little extra that comes in handy now and then. 4. Not really. I can't get pictures like the commercials or Wayne but finding structure is pretty easy with it. I just wish that I could dial it in like the pictures that I have seen Wayne post of his.
Now that they have a new one coming out, you might be able to find a used one at a good price if someone upgrades.

If you are not going to use a Side Imaging unit with it, the best way to utilize it is to use it as a Side Imaging transducer to scan as you move around and then switch to the 360 view to hold position on stuff and fish you locate.

Is there an optimal speed for 360 images like with side scan (2-4mph)?

Is there an optimal speed for 360 images like with side scan (2-4mph)? 360 can be used while sitting still. I have read that it gets the best image when you are stationary. This is another reason I'm looking at the 360... because it's hard to be constantly moving in a yak.

I read some of the same reports (difficult to achieve commercial clear pictures). The new Mega Imaging might improve the clarity a bit. Time will tell.
