Anyone have any reports on Fayette in this summer heat. I love that lake in the Spring... with the heat though and it being a power plant lake I'm not sure if its worth the 3 hour drive for unresponsive fish.... Anyone have experience with it in the summer?
Taking a good friend who is a Vet and I would like to give him a shot at some fish.

I have been a few times in the past couple of months and the early morning bite is actually pretty good. I've been catching them in a foot to 6ft fishing over top of the hydrilla using anything from a frog, buzz bait, spook, and square bill crank bait. The bite has been producing from day break to around 9:30. The square bill has been really good fishing it into the grass and ripping it through, I have had a lot of bites ripping it through the grass but you will also have a lot of wasted cast because you will be pulling a lot of grass in with your bait.
Afterwards I've caught a few dragging c-rigs, drop-shots, and deep diving crank baits but it's been a grind.
The lake has been pretty busy lately, especially early.

The only time of year I fish it hardly anymore is early summer. Big fish are easy to catch then. As for now its tougher as the water has warmed up
I can backlash toilet paper.

If you listen to the outdoors show on 610 on Thursday mornings a Fayette guide, I think Pete Dodge calls in and talks Fayette fishing. You can listen to recent shows on the 610 website, you don't have to listen live. His stuff is always spot on.

Went a few weeks ago and JBs report is basically what I found. 20-30 fish seems to be normal right now.
