OP Dan90210 ☮ Jr Deputy Dan Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 39,346 Denton County	I have been trying to catch some big blue cats from a tiny boat for a while. First started 3 years ago with my Bass Hunter boat. Had to learn how to throw a cast net, how to find shad, how to fish circle hooks etc. etc. So I studied up and tried hard. Never caught a thing. I have still been tinkering with it here and there from the bank. Catching some small channels and a small blue now and again. Yesterday I decided to put down my bass gear and try a day of catfishing from the kayak. Got myself 7 big Gizzards and a few bluegills at the ramp and shoved off. Started the morning bass fishing and doing pretty ok. When it got slow I went out deeper and started marking lots of shad and what I thought were blue cats in a bisection of two creeks in about 15-18 FOW First cast the bait got hit as soon as it hit there water! Blue cat on! Went on to catch 5 of them and a few channels in an hour. From 22 to 28 inches. Then as soon as it started...it stopped. No more action. Just like a switch. But boy it was fun! Thanks guys for the help over the years. I have learned a lot from yall on how to do this and hope to do more of it soon! This was on Lewisville yesterday by the way. The rain that came in around 11am really turned them on I think.

I was thinking I "Boy I still have a lot to learn! I thought I knew a blue from a channel!" And I almost never see channels that size at Lewisville. The biggest ones I catch are maybe 2lbs. Again thanks to everyone who posts up the great info here. From learning throw nets to hook selection to rigging... yall have been helpful as all get out.
