I bet we will be reading more about this soon. Does anybody know if there has been contact with LEO yet?

I sent the photos to a couple of old redneck boys who live on the lake who are eager to come to the get-together and accept his meeting on the bank.

It sure would be funny to watch.

I bet LCRA gets to him before long though. One of those poles into one of those high dollar Cobalts and it will be a phone call.

I am picturing it going something like this:

2017 Yamaha 115 VMAX SHO (VF115LA) SS Prop
Minn Kota Ultrex i-Pilot Link 45" 80 lb.
Humminbird Helix 10 Mega SI BalZout Console

I was fishing in front of a dock on Lake Tyler a couple of years ago and a lady came out and started chewing me out. She said she was tired of me fishing there and I told her she must be mistaken, I hadn't been on the lake in a month and had just pulled up there three minutes earlier. She kept on telling me I wasn't supposed to be there. I was 50 feet from the dock so I wasn't touching anything of hers. I finally told her I would be glad to wait there while she called the sheriff, game wardens, or anyone else she wanted to call, but that both of us knew she wasn't going to do that because I was fishing public water. She knew I knew the law so she went back inside. I moved on shortly.

A few months later, her husband was arrested for harassing some teenagers who were fishing near the dock. He came out, got in his ski boat, and started doing circles around them. I think he was probably yelling at them, too. One of the kids videoed him on his phone. The homeowner ended up in custody and on the local news.

Next time pretend to be deaf and use sign language to him/her! That usually throws them off. Except one time I did that as some salesman with a clipboard was standing in my driveway waiting for me to get out of my car. I motioned I was deaf and the guy actually knew sign language...That was funny; me running into my house and him trying to get my attention!

Thanks for the info on Texas Sportsman's Rights, but I'm not so sure about calling the cops. Last year on Lake Travis, I was fishing a dock for crappie. A guy came down, some kind of caretaker I think, and told me to get away from the dock or he would call the sheriff. I suggested he do so, thinking that the sheriff would support my right to fish in public waters. I waited for the sheriff's boat (about 30 minutes), but when the boat arrived with two deputies, I was threatened with a ticket for trespassing. When I tried (politely) to explain that I had the right to fish in public waters, the lead deputy reluctantly agreed, but said if my boat as much as accidentally touched a dock, I would be trespassing. I was intimidated by the two uniformed, armed deputies even though I knew I was right. I could now kick my butt for not thinking to video the encounter. I haven't been back to that dock so I guess the land owner's strategy worked.

This is almost to the letter what has happened around here on occasion. If the dock owner is buddied up with a local LEO and they take his side they can ruin your day in a hurry. They will find something, anything, to ticket you. AND intimidate you enough to get you to move on. You can go to court and fight it, and win, but while you're out the time and money spent the dock owner is sitting out there doing the same thing to the next guy. It didn't cost them a dime and in their mind they think they won. Don't get me wrong, 99.99% of dock owners are terrific and even like to see a guy catch a good fish around their dock. And then there are those that own everything within a hundred yards of their dock. The only way to get them to stop takes a huge, concerted effort between anglers and lawyers and law enforcement to prosecute them for harassment. So I usually just try to out cuss them, throw in a few comments about their mothers and wives, move on to the next dock and forget about them. If they got mad enough to jump in the water I would do circles on high 36 and hope I wasn't laughing too hard to video it.

Are you sure about that?

If you look at the 2017 image the swim area is not blocked off.

My image was from 1/30/17. He's actually had that barricade up since back in 1995.

Some moron on Lake Jacksonville used to have a sign that said something about an electrified cable going from his dock to the bank, or to another dock, I can't remember which. Like he was actually going to electrocute anyone who threw a lure into "his" area...

+1

Fishing the San Marcos River back in the early 2000's, we were warned about fishing a stretch of bank (we were in kayaks, in the river, throwing at the bank). The guy threatened to call the sheriff, and like y'all, I invited him to do so. To my surprise the sheriff showed up (quickly, too), walked out to the bank, and said if we didn't move on down the river we were all going to get drug out of the water in handcuffs.
