One of the first places I ever fished in the kayak and its still a great little place to go 5 years later. #13226202 07/26/19 04:15 PM

Had a little evening fun throwing some top water baits at a small lake where I first started my affair with kayak fishing. 5 years later and its still a great spot to go fish. A nice little hidden gem.

That was awesome. Thank you for sharing with us. That swim platform was begging for a lawn chair, ice chest and umbrella. smile

Thanks guys! and Janie if you were referring to that wooden platform Im not really sure if that was made to be a swim platform but maybe it was. It is a box that covers up a big overflow drain. Problem is that overflow leaks bad and the pond drains down way too low because of it. That entire lake is maybe 6ft at the deepest it was built in the 50s as a flood control reservoir and was a swamp before it was dammed up. It was once private property that was purchased by the city and made into a public park but it is still undeveloped so it doesnt get many visitors. The county may have to fix the over flow drain soon the erosion from the leak is bad around the spillway on the other side of the dam. I figure unless they fix it the dam may eventually fail. 5 years ago the smaller overflow under the wooden platform didnt leak and the water level stayed much higher most of the year and the water stayed clearer and less turbid from the constant drain. There is a much bigger over flow drain that sits a bit higher up on the dam and drains into the same spillway. The constant rise and fall of the water has never seemed to effect the fish much out there and I have caught a few 5-6 lbers from there in the spring time off of beds.

Nice video and NICE fish. Have a feeling if people find out where that little lake/pond is it will get some more pressure.
