So while I was fishing LBJ this weekend, I am fishing a row of docks, there is a gap, probably 1.5 to 2 boat lengths between two of the docks. Facing the bank, the dock on the right protrudes out further than the one on the left. There are two poles that are out in the water and between these two poles and the dock on the left is a rope with color floats. So I am in the area and between the docks and the female owner comes out and states that I need to leave because that is their swim area. I said no problem I am almost done. She stated I needed to leave now. I said in just a minute. She then stated I will call the LEO. I said no problem, please do. Well then the husband decides to come out and proceeds to bad mouth, trash talk, name calling and use foul language as I proceed to exit the way I entered, they are on the right dock. Threatens to call the cops etc etc. I begged them to call the LEO, game wardens etc. I even offered to call the GW for them. All while he is asking me to come over so he can kick my [censored]...I continue fishing out and kept my cool with them, especially the husband, cursing and bad mouthing. I did explain to them that there is a law against harassment upon which he then told me to get over there and he would whip my a$$. First of all if there was someone swimming, I would have never proceeded to enter and just moved on.

Location of this particular dock is just past the bridge before you get to the no wake buoys on the Colorado arm on the left side

So want to let everyone know. I used to keep document that talks about harassment and navigable waterway, but have not had to deal with that since the mid 90's.

I know someone has link to this.

Here is pic of layout and an actual pic I took of their swimming area.

Not sure exactly how bad the dude was being, but I would have definitely called a game warden to teach him how the law actually works, especially with all of the threats you mentioned.

If Im wrong Im sorry but I dont think hes allowed to do that. They dont own any of the water. Dock, items, land yes.... but not the water. I would call Game Wardens and have them get involved. There is a lady on Ray Hubbard that will come down and harass you but Ive dealt with her enough she doesnt even bother me anymore.

Yea was in a tourney and if I had the time I would have waited for sure......In my younger years I would have blown my stack....but since I have matured somewhat...it was not worth my time to get in an argument...I just stated the facts that I knew were correct and played the nice guy....which I think pissed him off even more because he was not getting my all riled up.

I haven't fished that lake in a few years, but I got into a similar altercation with that same dock owner. I was actually vertically fishing for crappie, and not even casting, 20-30 feet from the dock. Some people think they own the lake since they have a dock, and that family is one of them. Those people are complete A** holes, and don't know the laws. I tried to explain that they don't own the water, let alone the structure I was fishing. A couple of my friends had similar experiences with them as well.

On a side note, that "Swim Area" is something new that was put in. I'm curious if that is even legal. I know they put that in themselves, and doubt they got any type of permission before installing it.

How many people are going to seek out this dock next trip to LBJ?

I really hope everyone on the form goes and throws the biggest crank bait they can find right at their dock.. I'll drop a pin if it makes it easier to find, those people suck.

I always wonder what has someone cussing angry at people on a public lake? Gel coat taken off a nice boat by one too many errant flipped jigs? One too many treble hooks from broken off lures stuck in a bare footed grand kid? Just plain grumpy "get off my lawn" kind of folks? I think we can do our part and I am guessing most of us do If we see fishing lines in the water or people swimming, and give a wide birth, understanding someone else was there first. I have banged my share of other peoples property on or in their docks with a lure and I could see where that would get old although it should be expected on a dockable lake. Good on you for keeping your cool, not always easy to do when someone is cussing you.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

I know exactly where you mean Don.

Did he have those poles sunk into the lake bottom? They look stationary from the picture.

"Swim area"..... Can you imagine if everyone did that?

Jackson

Ive seen folks do something similar with PVC to stop logs/debris from floating into the docks but never had a run in with anyone like that. Id put a way point down and share it with the Map community. (Navionics, etc)
Title is giant bass year around. Lol

That swim area looks very illegal and potentially a dangerous hazard

It sounds like a quick call to LCRA will get those bouys removed. I promise they were not approved
And place with appropriate permission.
