Was messing with foot pedal adjustments. I was wondering if you really need to secure the foot pedal to the tray. I have a rod saver tray and was not sure if even necessary. I could add a few screws but not sure if worth doing. The original screws are a bit too small and not grabbing. That is why I am wondering if it was overkill to begin with. Sorry for the random question. Just getting used to the set up.

since I like to move the foot control around on the deck when I had a recessed tray I put a cover on it and used it for storage. My newest boat doesn't have one.
I sit and cast most of the time.

Installed a tray on my new to me boat a couple of years ago and never secured the foot pedal. It doesn't move and I've never had a problem with it.

I wouldn't be concerned about it unless it caused problems.

You’ll be fine with it not screwed in.

Thank you. Comments are helpful. I will leave unsecured. I tightened tension so it does not move left and right so easily. So far so good. I like it to where I can put foot on the pedal and it does not start to move up and down. The extra tension is a big help when using the pulsing switch and keeping on course. Thanks again!

I've always screwed mine down, at least with 1 screw. Get in some chop and it will start bouncing and you could end up with a broken foot pedal.

My Ultrex pedal has to be secured. It’s a tight fit and if it wiggles, I can’t get to all the “stuff” on it. It has to be dead centered and immobile. Last boat had a Maxxum on it before an Ultrex, that recess was shallower and I didn’t secure either models pedals and it was just fine. I think it’s a case by case thing.
