That would be ME! ! !

Boat ramp wide enough for 4 Boats, certainly 3 very easy. I pull up to the staging area behind another boat to get everything ready. I finished before the guy in front of me. Boat entirely equipped and ready to launch. I pull around the boat in front, and am ready to pull into ramp area. There is a boat at the ramp appearing to be launching. Two guys in a suburban and an old boat with 1965ish outboard. As it turns out, he was just stopped there working on his boat. problem is, I can't get around him into the ramp area. I opened the window and asked him to pull up so I could get by. Literally the guy had the whole entrance blocked except for one little space in front of his truck, but no way to go in and back the boat down. Guy told me to go back and go around. By this time, the boat in the other staging area was behind me, so I couldn't. Abrupt conversation ensued, and at that point, one of the guys came at me and said he was going to Kick My A**. At that point I was rolling the window up, leaning to the right inside my truck, and zooming into the ramp area in front of their truck. But now I am stuck because I had no room to get all the way in. It took me over 5 minutes of back and forth get my boat in a position to back down. My wife was waiting and watching all this. She tried to reason with one of them to just pull up. In the meantime, after I zoomed in because the guy was about to come into my window, his buddy called 911 because, as he said, "I tried to kill his friend." Are you kiddin' me?!?!?!? Well, I launched my boat, got in with my wife, cruised around near the ramp, and waited for the Police to get there. They responded in about 8 to 10 minutes (good for them). I pulled up, docked my boat. I talked to the police away from the other 2 guys. I explained what happened. . . My wife and I were much more credible than the dudes who called 911. The police were very professional, and commented, "Wow, ya just don't need to deal with anything like this at the ramp, do ya?" "Y'all go on out and have a good day." I apologized for them having to come out, and my wife and I were on our way.

Why am I the IDIOT in this story? ? ? Because I could have avoided this whole scene if I would have just backed up, and gone around. I knew these guys were no good from the start. I didn't need this today. I know better. I know better. I know better. It is NOT worth it. I have got to use my head, and just move on.

I was the IDIOT today. I apologized to my wife for allowing this to happen, and I really am gonna try to keep it from happening again.

Boat Ramp Rage. . . It's never any good. I ended up catching a few good ones today, including this almost 15"er.

Luckily it didn't escalate any further.

Sounds like idiots at joe pool marina. Took 45 minutes to get back on trailer last time i was there.

He'd of climbed back out my window faster than when he came in when he had my sig pressed between his eyes. I don't give nobody any [censored] and I ain't gonna take any either. Boat ramp etiquette isn't everyone's forte. Glad it worked out for you

Unfortunately it appears there are more and more people around that don't have a clue. And unfortunately you can easily let that ruin your day of fishing. Always better to just let it go if you can. Now if I can just adhere to my own advice. Great post.

Happens all the time at Ray Roberts ! some people at boat ramps just don't think ,! Lighting storm coming in and people still unloading boats and jet ski just like nothing will happen to them if they get struck by lighting !!!

You need to read Facbook post by a catfish guide on Somerville about a guy cutting in front of about 12 others waiting to use the ramp. The guide simply backed his trailer up to the front of the guys truck and blocked him in the water till he explained a little about common courtesy. He also guided other boats down the ramp while he explained courtesy to him.

It takes a humble man to admit it on a public forum. Good on you. As an old boss once told me "we all have a bad day" from time to time.

On the other hand I really like Bills2006 story and how that particular situation played out.

Well. . . After retiring in December from 28 years in Federal Law Enforcement, I should have known better than to open my mouth. I used no foul language, but I was quite forceful in telling him just to pull his truck up the ramp to let me by.

I've just gotta start letting things go. Those folks are always gonna be out there, and I just gotta remember God is Good, and if I get on the water 10 minutes later, its no big deal.

I've got bigger things to worry about, like. . . Why couldn't I catch just ONE of these fish stacked on this tree? ? ? I am SO bad at marking and putting my lure over the tree. I just can't seem to do it.
