150HP Used to run it weekly but hit a down period where it sat for literally 6 months. Took it out about 4 weeks weeks ago for the first time after that long sit and it ran great. Still on same gas tank from before it sat for 6 months and it's about half a tank. I always use RingFree and probably had some in it from before it just sat for 6 months. New spark plugs. Took it out today, it started great and as soon as I gunned it it stalled/died. It re-started but died again as soon as I put throttle down. After it died a second time, it would not restart. Checked bulb and it was as tight as it could get. Sat for about 10 minutes and the motor would restart then quickly die after a couple of seconds. Had to wench the boat onto the trailer. Got home, checked the fuel water filter and the little red ring was barely floating. (sign of water?) It wasnt floating all the way to the top of the filter, just a little off the bottom. I cleaned out the filter, refilled it with gas, motor started right up but died after a few seconds. So basically I'm back to where I started before I took the fuel filter off. Checked the fuel lines as best as I can (just followed the length of the tubing) and didn't see any cracks. No gas in bottom of motor or in bottom of boat. What should I do?

I had a fairly similar issue in my 2003 ox66 250. It would get on plane and die. It was also easy to start at the ramp, put was hard to start after I ran it, stopped and fished, and tried to restart. I replaced the fuel filter, VST Filter, and three low pressure fuel pumps ($30 to $40 each) and that cleared the problem. I'm not a mechanic, not even mechanically inclined, but it was all easy stuff to do and for $150 I decided to try that before I sent it to the shop.

You have to remove the fuel hose ends to check for enter liner collapse.

Like Gary said you have to remove the ends of the fuel line to check the lining. My Yamaha did the same thing your's is doing and it was the fuel lines that had been delaminated by ethanol.

I replaced the fuel lines and that was the problem. Make sure you buy fuel hose, just any hose won't work.

Thanks for the update. I went ahead and put in the shop. Two week wait before they can look at it. I'm not mechanically inclined so even if it ends up being the fuel pump I could not do that on my own. Someone asked if I had the low pressure or high pressure pump...I don't know but I'm guessing the OX66 is low pressure vs the HPDI which is high pressure? I REALLY hope I have the low pressure because it's $40 vs $1000+. And I will ask the shop to please check all the hoses as well. (they should probably know to do that anyway)

HPDI motors are high pressure. OX66 motors are not.
