I'm headed down there this weekend for a trip with my grandson who is turning 7.
As much as I hate to ask, can anyone put a guy on some sand bass action? Or for that matter, a location where he could even catch some 'gills?
It's probably been 15 years since I've been on Whitney.

With a boat... across the lake from Lofers west around the island or from Mccowns, around the bridge. Those are where I would start. Watch the birds, other boaters trolling. Good luck,

Whitney has been slow. Actually, it's been terrible. Most of the fish went through the dam when they had the gates open after the flood. I would focus on gills, because the whites and stripers are sparse at best.
