Does anyone have a shortcut to tuning cranks, or even a way to test and tune off the water? I cant stand sitting over fish and spending 30 minutes tuning a new crank. It seems like lately the bombers I have been getting are so far off tune that circle out of the water at first. I tuned one for at least 30 minutes the other day and then decided to just cut it off because it wasnt getting any better. The next one out of the package took 10 minutes to tune and then I lost it yesterday on the water and will have to start again today. It used to be that 1 in 4 needed tuning, now it seems like 3 of 4 need tuning.

Only thing I can offer is make very minor adjustments to the hook eye. I can usually tune one in a couple minutes on the water. I think sometime folks bend the eye too far one way or the other, making the problem even worse and costing a lot more time trying to get it tuned.

If you have a pool or a local pond you can test them and tune them there. Otherwise there's really no way to know unless you can pull them through some water.

Honestly, I've had nothing but good luck with my strike king baits. Very rarely do I need to tune one.

Honestly, I've had nothing but good luck with my strike king baits. Very rarely do I need to tune one. My 5/6Xd's are typically good, or really anything with a wider bill. The issues is really with my flats or especially with my Bomber DD Square bills. I have had a bad run of Lucky Crafts too lately.
