Heath stopped me on Monticello a few times a couple years ago and the AMWA at Athens has stopped to talk to me. All nice guys for sure! I was stopped on Fort Phantom once last year while I was in college. They did a routine check and I was on my way. But Summertime it is scarce but I understand they can't be everywhere at one time!

I've seem them basically clear a lake during cadet training. We were asked for your typical check six times in one day on Bastrop from the same instructor and six different cadets.

Saw Brazos River Authority at a lot patrolling and checking when I lived down near Lake Granbury. GW's not so much.

buddy of mine is a GW in Waco/Mclanin Co. He'll admit they are way understaffed.

On Joe Pool on the 4th of july I had one force me to tow in a jet ski at night. We didn't even know the drunk chick on it.

On Fork it is the GWs. Not sure about the others. Last time on Fork we stopped to do a little fishing under the bridge in Birch. GW boat had a t top and could not get under the bridge. He used a pair of binoculars to read our licenses. Never asked for life jackets or anything else. I have been checked more on Fork than anywhere else but I also use to fish it a lot. Only time I have seen a GW on Ray Hubbard was on my 17th bday. Of course I had forgot to buy a license. It was the first day I was required to have one.

As others have said, 1 GW in a large county. They get called for all kinds of complaints, concerns, etc on top of daily follow up on ongoing investigations. I frequent a particular bar and see folks drinking for an entire football game then drive off. Police are probably within a few blocks at any one time. Never seen anyone pulled over.

If you are seeing frequent violations, try giving your local GW a polite call and ask him/her to drop by at the time frame and place if they are in the area. Probably appreciate the heads up more than venting on a forum. Those guys have a tough job dealing with many more issues than you might suspect.

Brazos River Authority (B.R.A) is on Granbury all the time, not so much with Game Wardens, but I have seen them from time to time. Fine with me though...shoot they even have an Air boat they take around up river and a blacked out center console they use.

Remember the GW they are state police and sometimes they help out local law enforcement. They have a tuff job and can't be every place all the time. My son into going to law enforcement and wants to be a game warden. It is a hard job to get..

I have been stopped at Fork a few times as well as Bridgeport. Always friendly and courteous. Does not bother me at all to get checked.

Fort Worth Marshall's do a pretty darn good job on Lake Worth... I've been safety checked 4 times this year already and watched them pull over dozens of boats and jet fleas. Getting a Game Warden out there is a different story... even when you provide them with pictures of clear cut gaming violations occurring repeatedly they wont do anything, but someone calls in with a big fish out of Marine Creek and the Warden is there within 2 hours. hmmm I'm no TPWD or Game Warden hater, dont get me wrong... but when your on inner city lakes and the few times Wardens are on the lake you only see them pulling over and boat checking fishermen while pleasure boats full of drunks pass right on by it makes a guy really begin to wonder what in the world is going on.

I know and work with most from Collin, Dallas, Kaufman and Rockwall counties from time to time. They are severely understaffed and if you can develop a relationship with those in your county they are always friendly and do as much as they can. During the busier times of the year they work 7 days a week and long hours. Not a job most would want to do if they knew what it is they do everyday...

You dont see them often on some lakes like Joe Pool, Arlington, etc. Because the local police have boats and will patrol them occasionally. You never know how often they patrol a lake because they may have patrolled it the day before you were there or even at a different time from you on the same day. They do have a lot of ground to cover and couldnt just concentrate on fishing. In 40 years I have only seen them a handful of times.

This reminded me of one of my favorite Greg Giraldo jokes.

If you see something, say something. This is the New York City Subway system we are talking about, of course, Im going to see something suspicious. In fact, one time I saw someone peeing on someone who was masturbating. "I think I See SOMETHING!"---RIP Greg Giraldo
