Myself along with fishing buddies Jeff and Steve ventured north on Hwy 281 and fished Inks Lake. We launched at the boat ramp in the State Park. We fished from 7am till 1pm. We had a good day. Between the three of us we caught about 75 fish. We caught Bluegill,Redbreast,White Bass,Channel Cat's,and Large Mouth Bass. We caught a bunch of small sunfish but did manage to catch a bunch on nice ones in the 8 to 10 inch range. We located a bunch of White Bass and managed to catch a bunch of them. They were all keepers in the 10 to 14 inch range. Three nice Channel Cat's in the 2 to 4 pound range and four bass in the 2 to 3 pound range rounded out the catch. Fish were mainly in 10 to 16 feet of water around rock or grass beds. We also picked up fish by docks in 16 feet of water. The bite completely turned off around 11:30 am. Small crank baits Chartreuse/Blue and Rooster Tails Chartreuse/White got the best results. We also picked up fish using a White Grub. All fish were released! All in all a great day on Ink's lake. woot

Nice report Laker. That's an awesome variety catch. Just curious...what pound test do you use ? Or, were you fly fishing ?

Thanks Vogey! I use four pound test line. My other two friends use six pound test. I was using ultralight tackle this trip but I do fish from the fly a lot. Love that ultralight and fly rod tackle. woot

Boat traffic was not that bad at all! State park had a lot of campers and was busy! Gnab2: Inks is a nice lake to fish. Plenty of nice fish!

So I guess that answers my question... the ramp re-do is finished?? Did you happen to swing by Marble Falls park ramps. They are getting a major re-do also.

Boocat: I was just at Marble Falls this past Friday and the ramp is still closed! You can still launch a kayak inside the park to get onto the river(Lake Marble Falls).

OK thanks. So Inks ramp is much better? It was steep and narrow. MF was pretty torn up when we drove thru 2 months ago.

Curtis aka Laker One, would have to answer the question on Inks lake's ramp. The last time I was on Ink's with a boat was two years ago and the ramp seemed fine. Curtis and his friends usually launch kayaks from the banks over by their camp sites if they were camping. They also launch from the banks if ramps are busy. thumb

Sorry don't mean to Hijack but TPWD link to Inks Lake shows ramp is getting improvements.

So just to be clear is the boat ramp still under construction?
Thanks

Park Alerts . . .

Boat Ramp Closure
The park's boat ramp will be closed beginning March 5, 2019, for construction of ramp improvements (leveling, larger dock, improved ADA access). You can still launch kayaks, canoes and small motorized boats that can be hand-carried into the water from the bank in the park. Contact the park for more info on boat launch alternatives.
