Was going to go to my ole stomping ground at Gorda . But my wife wants to go to a nicer beach. I kinda agree. Any suggestions where to go? We are leaving early Saturday morning. Thanks.

IMO Matagorda has a nicer beach than Port A. More of it and there's not all the grass along the beach. Port A does maintain the beach access road better for sure. Matty you pretty much need 4x4 unless it's not packed but weekends both will be packed.

I agree that Matagorda beach is nicer. We have 4wd. But.."wants to got somewhere different" story. I gave in, as long as i'm on the beach and surf fishing, i'm good.

I'd say Port A then. Forecast is looking like 2-3's with incoming tide Saturday. Weather looks good.

Specks can be good late at night on panfish jigs. They're on a glass minnow feed. I was outfishing people who were using live shrimp while I was throwing small jigs. Some of the stuff they were spitting up was less than 1/2" long. You really can't go too small. A 2" panfish Assassin in your favorite color rigged tandem on 1/16 oz jigheads is probably your best bet. They wouldn't touch anything longer than 3" last week. I was catching fish on 3" baits, but wish I had something smaller.
I'm not a chick.
