The lake is finally only a couple of feet high now, so I headed out Saturday morning. Didn't need to go far since just out off the west point of Meadowmere the sandies were thick a flees. Spent 2 hours in basically one spot. I lost count of how many I caught. Most were 9 to 12 inches. No monsters but they did surface in that area off and on til about 9 am. They are feeding on small 1" shad/minnows. Used small slabs and white crappie jigs.

1 oz. Mud Minnow (silver- from MT Pockets Tackle). They are skinny, not like a standard slab shape.. A shameless plug even though I get no discount. . I will give it a go again Wednesday evening to see if I can find them in the evening. Been tough lately. Don't know if it is the rude wake boarders or the gates being wide open for so long.

Thanks for the " SHAMELESS PLUG " JWC Kensho... You can do either casting or jigging will work (depending on what the fish want)

They schooled for over an hour in front of Murrell last week. Good sized ones mixed in too.

We hit the motherlode last night at Meadowmear. We threw 2" sassy shads on a school surrounding us for an hour and a half. Most were 12" fish. Good size for the schoolers.

Sorry, jigging slab off the bottom. I use swim baits and tail spinners "little george" type when casting.

Easy lake to run. Just give the points plenty of room when going around them as some stick out far and have big rocks. As for the sandies, I would look for schooling activity by the island or the north side of the lake.

Not sure what side of the lake you're on. Katie woods is the best one on south side. Murrell on the north side. Most of my fishing is west from the island.

Went back out to GV Wednesday evening. Had another 100 plus fish night between the 2 of us. From 6:00 till almost 8 it was non-stop action on slabs out just east of Murrel Park on the north side. They weren't in the usual places but we just moved around for a few minutes and the screen lit up. It stayed lit up for a hour and a half.

Thanks, had to leave at 7:15. Marked lots of fish deep and some suspended 15-20' but no surfacing. Quite a few ski boats and jet fleas out. Caught one dink and missed a couple. Was mainly getting used to the new to me boat....

Yes, the skiers don't seam to care if you are there. Pretty lawless at Grapevine. Not seen a gamewarden on the lake in 3 years. Been going early on weekends or weekday evenings seems to be the only time you can fish without getting swamped by a self centered wake boater.
Slabs worked good for us on the deep ones. We never saw the surface action either Wednesday evening.

JWC Nauticstar thanks for the help, took the wife and daughter out for 3 hours this afternoon and wore the whites and catfish. All were caught on slabs in 24 ft around the rock crusher humps. Thanks again for the info my daughter left tired and a big smile asking when can we go again.

Glad you found some fish. I went today from 5 till 7:30 pm. Slow slow for us. Hit 5 or 6 places. Caught drum, catfish & maybe 10 sandies. I figured Saturday would have been better just due to the weather. Will try again Wednesday.

Update: 8/14/19 Evening run, GV is still on fire. Slabs rule the day any color or style at the moment. they are close to the Murrell flats and humps today. You just have to scan around the usual spots and they will be there, 23 to 29 ft of water. Hooked a 20+ yellow cat last night using the kids Zebco Micro 33 with 4lb test. Twenty minutes later after an epic battle she broke me off. I did get her up to see her 3 times and had to use the trolling motor to chase her so I wouldn't get spooled. Still landed good sandbass every drop till 7:30pm. Had to switch to a spinning rod for my right arm since my left arm was a wet noodle.

I got home, got the boat ready and then let the heat talk me out of going. Now Iām kicking myself! Thanks for your reports JWC Nauticstar!

It just about kicked me too. Lake was almost glass smooth, It was hot. I could have used some company. I was the only one out last night on Murrell. Not too many wake boaters. I got pretty tired from fighting that fish for 20 minutes and almost called it quits then, but the graph kept me there till 7:15 ish. I just keep going back and forth from Rock Crusher to Murrell. one usually pays off. Rock Crusher was void last night when I got there, so off to Murrell and it took some searching before I found them, since in my mind those fish won't be almost 30ft deep this time of year but they were.

Alright, you convinced me to head out again! I was sitting out the heat, but someone's gotta go help JWC teach these fish a thing or two.

I hope you found them. I had to go visit a friend who had bypass surgery and is stuck in some re-hab place in Grapevine last night. I didn't sneak back out there yet. I may try the morning bite if the BOSS lets me out to play.
