Fellas, I'll apologize in advance if this has been brought up before. Just carry one. I've got the most basic available. Came in handy today. Baby catfish. One of his whisker's got my index finger. Then in my infinite wisdom ran a fish hook partially into my thumb. Packet's of alcohol and neosporin, as well as band aid's take up literally no room.

Can y'all think of anything else we should all carry?

I carry a self-made kit with assorted sizes of waterproof bandages, gauze pads, waterproof tape, ace bandage, antibiotic ointment, forceps, scissors. Internals include Tylenol, ibuprofen, antacid, anti-diarrheal. I�ve used the bandages, tape, and antibiotic ointment on people but have never needed any myself. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I also carry a simple repair kit, Gorilla tape and a kayak patch kit. Plus a knife, Leatherman multitool, and few lengths and thicknesses of rope.

Bet the catfish hurt worse than the hook. Hopefully the hook didn't get too deep.

I keep a basic first aid kit in my dry bag along with a couple of hand towels. I also keep a pair of diagonal wire cutters in case I do get a hook buried deep and need to cut the shank off.

In addition to Tallgrass' and Jerry's list... A Bic lighter and two large heavy duty trash bags.

I rarely get far enough away from my truck to worry about getting stranded. However, occasionally I do venture several miles from my launch so I keep them packed away in my front hatch. If I break down, get hurt, freak storm, etc... I'll have a makeshift mat, roof and fire to keep the boogie man away.

In my opinion, anything that should be in a hiking day pack, should be in my yak...

Yep, I always carry a lighter and some starters, plus a spare paddle. I've had to loan out the spare paddle twice.

I carry a lighter too. In my dry bag I also carry TP, headlamp, additional paracord, rain poncho and spare shirt. Keep a knife on my PDF.
